First Foods:: Oatmeal (Funny!)

Can you believe Norah is nearly 6 months old??
She has now reached the point to where we can begin feeding her solids and thanks to some recent information I received, we decided to start with oatmeal instead of rice cereal. Apparantley it can be extremely constipating to their little tummies(ugh!) and I didnt want Norahs first foods to be a painful experience, so we opted to start with the oatmeal instead!

Here are some of my favorite pictures...
I got a kick out of these...
What do you think?

*Im confused, this isn't milk!*

*Yuck!!!!*

*I think Im going to puke......*

*Gagging myself!*

*Do not come near my mouth!!*

*No, no, no!*

Update::
It has now been 3 days and she's finally "accepting" the oatmeal...but still prefers mommy's milk!!

Wanted:: An Ark!!

So if you haven't heard by now, (which must mean you live under a rock) our little town of Orting, WA has been evacuated because of severe amounts of rain and flooding. The rivers around us have already reached record levels are just going to get higher. We know many people who have been affected must worse than us and just ask that you say a little prayer for them tonight. We are resting safely at my parents house on the hill (with Buddy, our dog, included) Thankfully, Steven was able to come home from work early to help me load up the suitcases... I didn't think much of the flooding when I heard about it on the news last night and this morning...but when so many of you began sending text messages, emails, and calling me, I quickly realized this was much more serious than I had originally thought. Within a couple of hours of hearing the news, there were firetrucks driving up and down our street honking their horns and yelling through the loudspeaker "This is a mandatory evacuation, please leave as soon as possible" We went to go get gas for the car and Downtown Orting was a ghost town, the stores (including Safeway) were all closed...scary sight.

...So thank you so much to everyone who thought of us and have continued to check in with us all evening...if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been ready for our "official" evacuation...

Side Note:: We usually have church tonight, but a nursing facility that was affected in the flood, moved in to our new church facility and has set up shop. My parents are there now setting up cots and giving the residents dinner...my mom called and said KOMO news 4 was just there...so check the 11 o'clock news tonight for Edgewood Bible Church!! (That's us!)

Confession time:: 1.) I still had to make myself look "pretty" before leaving which required a shower and a fresh coat of make-up (all of this while the firetrucks are driving up and down our street! *Disclaimer: I would not have been doing that if the mountain had errupted... 2.) I really wanted to document this with my new camera so I took all of these pictures for you (see below)......while driving.

*This is what we saw in the window when trying to get gas at Safeway

*Can you read the sign?
It says "Standing water? Wet crawlspace? Bad Drainage?"
(the sign was in a huge puddle of water. the irony)

*Check out the the truck in front of me...thats a lot of water*

*Water over roadway

*This is someones back yard*

*Ouch!!*

*Anyone want to go swimming??*

*Another view of the water coming over the road*

*The sign says it all*

*Someone elses front yard*

*A Christmas tree farm*

*People trying to get into our city (Orting) no luck...the cops
were letting no one through and turning them all around*

*This line went forever....*

*...and ever*

Good Times:: The Amazing Uncle Chris

Stevens brother Chris came to stay with us this last week and we were so excited to have him and were very sad to see him go. He is wonderful with both of our kids and Jacob was so happy to wake up and see him at our house everyday! He never hesitated to hold Norah and was always playing with Jacob. We tried to keep him busy by taking him to Chris and Angelas and to Ben and Heathers to watch a movie, to Suzie and Andys house to ring in the new year and Steven even recurited him to finish a side job! We watched a new movie every night and had a fun time just hanging out! We told him if he ever needs a place to stay, we're here for him. We're just glad to have a spare room...

*Kisses*

Late:: Christmas

I contemplated not even posting about our Christmas because it's been nearly 2 weeks...but I couldnt skip the biggest, most important holiday of the year, so here it goes...

We had a wonderful Christmas with both of our families together! My parents came over Christmas morning and my mom made breakfast for all of us. Jacob then opened his presents from my parents and also from us. I think we all enjoyed watching him open his presents even more than opening our own! Im pretty sure Jacob now owns every "Cars" toy that ever existed (jk)...it was so easy to buy for him this year because he loves anything and everything "Cars". He really got the hang of "Present Opening 101" and we were all blessed with some amazing gifts, including another zoo membership for the 2009 year! My mom and dad bought Jacob a portable DVD player (just for kids) and he hasnt let go of it since. He loves it...Steven and I bought him Madagascar, Finding Nemo, Kung Fu Panda and a Thomas the Tank Engine DVD so he's been breaking those in quite well!

From there we all went to Stevens parents house in Shelton for dinner and to exchange more gifts! Once again, the kiddos were spoiled and had a great time playing with their cousin Serena and Uncle Chris. Dinner was fabulous and we had a great time together. I am so lucky to get to spend every holiday with both of my families. We never had to split them and our parents get along so very well...I always tell Steven that even if we weren't married our moms would be best friends...I am so thankful!

Here is a glimpse into our wonderful day!!

*You can see my new love of ribbon, no more bags or bows!*

*This is our tree after my parents unloaded their gifts*

*Norah loved the tissue paper!*

*Norah opening her gifts*

*Norah loves her Papas..(andy they love her too!)*

*Papa John*

*My handsome hubby*

*Grandma Susy*

*Smiles for Grandma*

*Getting the hang of it*

*More "Cars" stuff*

*Gotta love the early morning hair!*

*I put Jacobs stocking stuffers in this bag!*

We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and wish you the best year ever in 2009!

Love,
The Fentons

Re-addicted:: Guitar Hero

Ok, I have to be honest with you all, the real reason I've been "putting off" blogging is for one reason and one reason only...Guitar Hero. We can't stop playing it and now Jacob is even getting addicted to it (see pictures below) we played it on New Years Eve at Suzie and Andy's house and it's gotten us excited about it again...even more than before! I also have a new obession of American Idol for the wii too...thanks again to Suzie who actually got me to sing a bunch of songs...super super fun!! So with Guitar Hero, American Idol and very soon Rockband...I think our neighbors are going to be purchasing some ear plugs in the near future (you just can't play those games quietly!)

**Rock On!!**
