"Busy-ness"
I can't believe its already Saturday!! It was a week ago we were on the beach enjoying life! Do you ever feel like the week ahead is empty but as the day goes on it gets filled up really fast?? Thats been happening to me lately..its great because I live for the unexpected (I always have been pretty spur-of-the moment!) Take this week for example...pretty empty..until I went Amberlyns for our craft day on Tuesday, to lunch with Morgan and Sophia at Red Robin and then to Suzie and Andy's for a bbq dinner on Wednesday to a MOPS "craft team" meeting in the morning and then to another MOPS Ledership gathering that night on Thursday and then to a Drs appt followed by a playdate at Wright's park with Carly (and Gabe) and Christia (and Julian and Gabe) on Friday!!! Geesh that was a mouthful! It was a lot of fun and I am thankful to have such "spur of the moment" friends as well!! It sure beats sitting at home all day trying to be "creative" which has gone down the drain the last few months (thanks to Amberlyn Im quickly getting back in the mood though!) Steven thought I could use some retail therapy on Friday so he took me to the Supermall and let me pick up a few things for the baby :) I just couldnt resist (see previous post) at my Dr appt yesterday she said the baby was now measuring a week ahead (Yay! That now puts me at the 3rd!!!) Im really going to try and shoot for a 4th of July baby (hehe) but she's 100% behind me for a VBAC and said that at my next appt she'll check me (if I want) and begin to stir things up...Im all for it because with Jacob I never dilated until I was induced (which still took forever) so any progress is good progress!! It also increases my chances of a successful VBAC if Im able to go into labor naturally...she also said shes moved back into head down position which I know can be ever-changing but for now thats great! With Jacob I was so ready to have him by this time but to be honest I dont mind if she wants to take her time. I was pretty much ready for Jacob to arrive whereas with this one I feel like even though her room is done I still have Jacobs room to do as well as a couple of other rooms in the house...I guess it doesnt matter but you could say Im not as "anxious" for her to come asap...the beginning of July with be sufficient for me! :) Today was our MOPS rummage sale to raise money for funds for nexts years events...Im really excited to be on the craft team with some great girls, especially since we have some great crafts planned!! Im ready to start the new year already! Unfortunatley it decided to rain today so I havent gotten a final total on the proceeds but I pray there's enough to get things started! I checked in a few times at the sale and although it was cruddy out the girls still all had smiles on their faces (and Starbucks in their hands!) Well Steven and Jacob are out in the backyard playing and it sounds like they are having a lot of fun..I think I should go join them :) Goodnight!!

So Thankful!!
Well after a brief battle with either food poisoning or the 24 hour flu I am feeling much better and back to my blogging self!! We decided on the fly Friday night to take Jacob to the Long Beach Pennisula as kind of a "Jacob" weekend before his sister comes. We wanted to make it a very special day for him and thats exactly what it turned out to be. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the sand was so warm we walked around with our shoes off nearly the whole time!! When Jacob first saw the ocean the first thing he said was "Fishy!" which Im assuming besides his bathtub, any other body of water is a "fishy" (we'll work on that) :) We let him play for a couple of hours on the beach which consisted of constructing a sand castle with daddy, watching a man fly his kite as well as admire a group of kids kicking a soccer ball and doggies doggies galore!! What a perfect spot to take your canine friend and thats exactly what we did!! Buddy had a great time as well...he loved to chase all of the birds :) after the beach we went to our favorite Bakery and had some delicious sandwiches and of course, we couldnt pass up a few pastries!! Needless to say, Jacob was satisfied (not to mention he got an Elmo ring on his cupcake!) From there, we strolled along the downtown streets and window shopped as well watched Steven take a ride on the go karts!! Probably Jacobs favorite part of the day!! Since Jacob usually goes down for a nap around 2-2:30 we were both quite surprised when we looked at the clock and saw it was 4:30 how pleasantly happy he still was!! Phew...what a blessing! We were starting to get tired and decided to head out while everyone was still happy!! Within 15 minutes of us being on the road, Jacob was out like a light!! I drove halfway home so Steven could take a little nap and then we switched and I did the same...before we knew it we were pulling into our house and it was nearly 7:00pm!! So it was quite a fun filled day and couldn't have asked for a better behaved child and such amazing weather...needless to say, Prayers answered!! My good friend Amberlynn (who is ultra super crafty) hosted me at her house today to make some invitations for my shower!! She showed me what she had in mind and it was so cute!! So after 6 hours of us craftin' it up today they are all done!! I am so happy with them and thankful for her creative skills and her willingness to do this for me! We are going to be on the "Craft Team" together next year for our MOPS group and so Im so excited to see what else I can learn how to do! Not to mention she will be welcoming little Ben in early August so we'll be new moms (again) together!! I started feeling pretty icky on Sunday morning but still went to church...after we got home I went to bed and thew up 3 times *I think it was the sausage, egg and cheese Hot Pocket I ate Saturday night after the ocean...it may be awhile before Im able to eat those again..ugh! I can't thank God enough that I happened to be the sickest on Sunday and Monday..the 2 days Steven was home!! He totally stepped up and took over full-time care for me and Jacob!! He brought me soup and 7-up, got Jacob dressed, fed and took him to the park and around the block in a wagon and played in the back yard all day in order to let me rest...not to mention he did laundry and still wanted to work on the house which included more painting in a hot hot room! I am so blessed to have such a helpful husband!!
Anyhoots... Steven just got home from Bible Study so Im out for the night!!-Keren!

Daughter of Christian music star killed by car
Daughter of Christian music star killed by car
May 22, 2008, 6:30 AM EST
The 5-year-old daughter of Grammy-winning Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.
The girl, Maria Sue, was hit in the driveway of the family's home Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The brother, whose name and exact age weren't available, apparently did not see the girl, McPherson said. No charges are expected.
"It looks like a tragic accident," she said.
Several family members witnessed the accident, which happened in Williamson County just south of Nashville. The girl died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, hospital spokeswoman Laurie Holloway said.
In a statement, Velvet Kelm, a publicist for Chapman, said Maria was the Chapmans' youngest daughter.
Chapman, who is originally from Paducah, Ky., and his wife have promoted international adoption and have three daughters from China, including Maria. They also have three biological children.
The singer's Web site says the couple was persuaded by their oldest daughter to adopt a girl from China. The experience led the family to adopt two more children and create Shaohannah's Hope, a foundation and ministry to financially assist thousands of couples in adoption.
The Chapmans did missionary work at Chinese orphanages in 2006 and 2007, according to the Web site.
"After our first trip to China, my wife and I knew our lives were changing — our eyes and hearts were opening to how big God really is, and we have wanted to experience more of that," Chapman says on the Web site.
"We've really wondered whether or not we should just go to China and stay there. But I don't think so. I believe God is saying, 'I want you to go, get your heart broken, your eyes opened, and then take this story back to the church in America and around the world.'"
The 45-year-old singer also has released a book about being a father titled "Cinderella: The Love of Daddy and his Princess." He has won five Grammy awards and 54 Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association, according to Kelm.

*Purchase her changing table
*Make her basket liners (they will be lined in brown fabric and a pink ribbon will be tied around the basket)
And..
*Make the curtains
I must give all the credit to Steven, who despite day after day of side jobs, happily came home each night and put up all the molding, framed out her window & closet, installed the recessed lighting and ceiling fan, painted her walls, and put together all the furniture!! I am so thankful for him!! Its great being married to a handyman!! Enjoy!!

Our New Bedding...(Minus the crib with the weird drawers on the bottom)
Ok, so we finally bought the crib mattress we needed for the baby's room (yay for the stimulus checks!) so I decided on Friday to put her bedding together. I dont know what was wrong with me but my emotions got the best of me and I "hated" what it looked like...tears and everything...stupid hormones (hehe) I called Steven crying and telling him how bad I felt that I invested all this time and money into something that just didnt look right. When he came home he agreed, the bumper pads didnt look right and the yellow wasnt as cheery as we were both hoping (more like a "mustard" yellow) so to make a long story short, Steven let me pick out new bedding :) I found this one at Target and we went up to Bonney Lake today and bought everything we needed to complete the room!! I've decided if Pottery Barn won't take back the bedding (because it was on clearance) I will either Craigslist it or Ebay it...either way Im optimistic it will sell... so here is a picture of the bedding we got and along with that we also bought the wall stickers, the nightlight, decorative pillow, and (2) curtains!! To view the rest of the collection you can go here: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pgb_r_2_1_15810471/601-6365089-0480133?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000VP9JHO
(Steven told me later on that he'd secretly really wanted to do a pink and brown theme) and now that I see everything put together...I love it and wish I would have listened to him better!! I will post pictures tomorrow!!! Eeekkk!!

(The crib thats shown is not my favorite and as you can see the pink and brown drawers at the bottom just dont make it look right...instead we got the dust ruffle
to go with the white sleigh crib we have)

Happy Mother's Day!!
First of all, I hope everyone had a great Mothers day, weather you're a mom or not!! It was still a day to celebrate!! Second of all, I wanted to update you on Katie. I went and saw her Friday afternoon and she looked great! She was able to notice my new haircut which is more progress than last Sunday. Surgery was performed solely on her right eye. It was nearly blind already so in order to risk the left one going blind as well (which is one of the risks with this type of surgery) they just stuck with the right eye. As of yesterday, she was able to read the back of a Kleenex box, granted it was 5 inches away but still, its progress!! Slow progess is better than none at all!! She was also able to notice the painting in her hospital room! So Praise the Lord that her vision is coming back, we know it will be a slow recovery but we're just praying for continued success!! On that happy note her room was filled with beautiful flower arrangements and I know shes so thankful to everyone who's been praying for her and sending her cards and well wishes!! Thanks again! This week I battled yet another sinus infection (Im calling the Dr. tomorrow in hopes for some kind of antibiotic) its been fairly consistant for the last 3 weeks and I'm getting so sick of not being able to smell anything, let alone taste my food :( Its more of an annoyance than anything but still!! On wednesday I got a stomach bug which I think was passed to me by Jacob who threw up once last Sunday...thankfully it was his first "throw up" and hopefully it will be his last for awhile. *the not-being-able-to-smell part came in handy during the clean up though! But nevertheless it was puke and it was not an enjoyable experience. I hadnt thrown up since Sept from food poisioning and havent thrown up my entire pregnancy so I wasnt prepared! It was only once but I still felt pretty yucky all day.We had our hospital tour on Friday which was fun! I was very impressed with the level of intensive care they provide for newborns who need the highest level of care possible. That definatley put my mind at ease. The nurses were all very friendly and there are many many services available anytime for me as I need them. The delivery room was nice and reminded me a lot of Good Samaritian (in Puyallup, where we had Jacob). Unfortunatley, the post-partum rooms were still stuck in the 80's :) and teeny tiny. I know that shouldnt bother me nearly as much as it does, I know it's more importantly about the care you and you're baby are given but its really hard to ignore the white walls with pink/purple/teal 80's print wallpaper and curtains!! lol they need an extreme "hospital" make-over!! :) Saturday, Lakeland Hills had their annual neighborhood garage sale which I was so excited for....until Steven was asked to work :( it didnt stop Jacob and I getting up early to get a head start but we were bummed "daddy" couldnt join us. (He loves to garage sale) I was able to pick up 3 pairs of shoes for the baby as well as numerous onesies, tops and pajamas!! All for .25 each! Jacob was so well behaved which made it easier to shop!! (Snacks work wonders!) That afternoon I met Stevens mom at the Red Wind Casino (lunch buffet) to drop off Jacob b/c they were going to take him for the night. We had a wedding to go to and did not want to bring him!! It was so beautiful! It was held at Bethany Baptist Church and the reception was at The Liberty Theater the food was amazing (from the little I could taste) and everything was so elegantly put together, it was a great way to spend the night with Steven and my mom and dad!! This morning I woke up to the gourmet breakfast of a Safeway bagel and cream cheese, 2 reeses peanut butter cups, and a glass of Coke!! Yup..you read that correctly!! Thats a "dream" breakfast for me and my pregnant cravings :) I only have 8 more weeks to indulge so Im getting in every last bit!! (hehe) I was also given some roses as well as a beautifully written card!! Steven also bought me a "Peanut Shell" which Im so excited to get!! Its just like the "hotsling" but was on sale and I've heard great things about it!! I figure with Jacob AND baby, my hands will be full so why not "wear" the baby and have my hands free!! Now Im not going to "wear" her until she's 2 or anything...just the first few months when she can sleep next to me while I have my hands free to blog :) j/k they are usually $40-50 but this weekend only if you ordered them off the website you were given an addition 40% off!!! Which made mine just barely over 20.00! We couldnt pass that up! I was also given my SLR camera!! Yay!!! ..we get to pick it up next weekend!! (this weekend was just too busy) I got the Nikon D40 which I have heard nothing but great reviews on...I even went to the ritzcamera.com and bestbuy.com websites to read all 100 reviews..lol so Im excited to learn how to take better shots of the kids/animals and to hopefully get some great shots of the baby when she comes!! Eeekkk!! Steven and I as well as Steves family joined us at my parents house for Mothers Day Brunch, we all had a great time and had some great food! (..from what I could taste..again) My mom bought the baby a little pink Seahawks outfit (she'll need something to wear as she cheers her brother on!) as well as a little purple dress :) she also got the first of many crib sheets done so we can complete her bedding set!! All in all it was a great day and we had a great time with family!! We are so blessed. If you want to read more about the "Peanut Shell" you can go here: http://www.goo-ga.com/ , (and let me re-iterate, I will not "wear" her until she's 2!) lol!! Off to watch Cops (its 12:47am and Im wired!!)..oh yeah, I will post some pics of my recent "splurges!" tomorrow!! For now, goodnight!!
**In case you've missed reading my last few blogs and are wondering why Ive reverted to calling "Ava" "The Baby"...well...its too long to explain so you should just read the last 2 blogs or so we're still undecided and probably will be until she's born!! Based on the 46 votes we got on my myspace page for her name...Norah seems to be the favorite!!

Ughh...
Ok so coincidentally the list of "top names" just came out yesterday...and go figure Ava has moved from 5 to 4...I think that pretty much seals the deal...I dont want her to be known as "Ava F." with a classroom full of Ava's which bums me out. Thankfully everyones been so honest with how much they love the name but realistically tell me its so common and popular. I feel like she'd just blend in with the rest. In 2004 is was 25, just shows what a couple years will do!! We'll see though, we probably wont make a decision until she comes out and we see what she looks like, Im thinking a dark haired Norah and a light haired Ava...hehe Im crazy, I know but Im up early, nothings on tv and I just got the link to the top names please excuse me and my meaningless tangents ...if you're curious about your favorite names you can go http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ and see where you rank, (ps Nora is 242 and Norah is 470) !! I will blog again later tonight so for now, have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Thankful...
With all the events that have happened this weekend I am reminded how thankful I am and to not be taking things for granted. I am thankful for my parents who were able to watch Jacob for us while we went to visit Katie this weekend, without them we would have struggled to be able to dedicate 100% focus to her. I can always count on them, not only as a babysitter but for support and advice as well. I am thankful for Stevens job which allowed us to go out and eat a great dinner by ourselves that night in Seattle (The Wild Ginger, you gotta try it) Im thankful for our house that God has graciously given us. I am thankful for 2 healthy babies. I so very often take for granted human life. I am reminded as I look at a blog I've been reading on a daily basis www.whenhellomeansgoodbye.blogspot.com how precious life truly is and to not sweat the small stuff. There are many people who have it far worse than me and to be stuck in my own pity party is a waste of time. I am thankful for an amazing church with an amazing Pastor who continually challenges us to become better Christians. I am thankful for my awesome friends who always keep me entertained and will do anything for me in a heartbeat. I am thankful for my husband who works so very hard to provide us with a great life and works far beyond your "typical" workday in order to do so. I am thankful that he is so patient and loving and looks beyond my flaws to be so forgiving. I am thankful for a free nation which allows me the opportunity to do far more than a woman in other countries. These are just a few things I am thankful for as I could go on and on...just a reminder for everyone how fast things can be taken away and to not take them for granted...
Update on Katie...
After speaking with Jason, (Katies boyfriend) tonight I have been updated on her condition. On Sunday, when I saw her, she had only had 1 spinal tap to drain out the fluid. As of tonight she's had 4 so they have been giving them to her at least once a day. With as much fluid as they are removing the Doctors are concerned and have decided to transfer her over to Swedish and perform surgery tomorrow. By doing that, they will be going through her eyes..(Im assuming the sockets) in order to release even more pressure. From what Jasons heard, this is the worst case they have seen. Which leaves us all with questions and unknown answers. Although her vision is still gone, Katie is keeping optimistic. Thankfully the best Doctor who deals with this rare condition will be treating Katie so thats a blessing. I just ask that you continue to pray for Katie as well as her family (and loved ones) for patience and comfort. Without knowing a lot of details it's hard to rest at ease but I pray that through the surgery tomorrow, the healing process can begin! I will continue to keep you posted and I ask you continue to pray! Thanks again...
Loss..
This is a girl who has experienced the ultimate loss but through her stroung faith she has managed to touch so many people through beautiful letters to her son. Her most recent post brought me to tears and reminds me how thankful I should be for the gift of life. Just thought I'd share her with you...

Prayers Needed...
As many of you may or may not know, my best friend Katie (Baker) recently lost her vision. She had begun to have headaches which cause blurred vision but late last week as she was driving home it completely disappeared. She was able to get a ride home safely and after going to an eye doctor, seeing a Physcians Assistant, and eventually ending up in the emergency room she has settled down in Seattle at Virginia Mason with some answers (finally!) After giving her and CT scan and MRI they were able to rule out any tumors which is a huge relief. Shes had one spinal tap and may possibly need more to drain the fluid off of her spinal cord. She felt a lot better after this...still with no vision though. They've officially diagnosed her with a "Pseudocervical Tumor" which means "fake tumor" Pseudo- meaning "fake" this condition is quite rare but we're thankful they know what it is now...she will hopefully be released tomorrow or Tuesday, but will continue to be monitored for re-occuring headaches which is a sign that the pressure is building up again. As many of you know Katie you know that she's always so generous to everyone and puts us all before herself, after seeing her today I was blown away by how emotionally strong she is!! We hope and pray for a quick recovery and restored vision. It's unknown how long it will take to regain but it can last as little as a couple days/weeks or longer...we're praying she'll be able to see very soon as she has a trip to Hawaii scheduled this June. I think of Phillipians 4 and pray that we won't be anxious, but rather that we will give everything to Him in prayer and be thankful. God is our ultimate physician and we need to remember that. So I ask that you will all think of, and be praying for, Katie and her family as they goes through this difficult time...
Thank you.
(Here she is as my awesome Maid of Honor)

Haircuts, Anniversaries, Babies and Birthdays!!
This week had many events that I've lacked to blog about but to keep myself "current" and up to date I'll post my favorite parts!! Enjoy!!On Saturday, Steven and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary! We went to our favorite restruant (Sakuras) and then headed over to the Emerald Queen for a little Blackjack!! It had been forever since we've been and it was even better considering we came out winners!! hehe :) My parents took Jacob for the night so we were able to come home and watch "One Missed Call" and call it a night! The movie was "OK"..not the best or the worst we've seen but nevertheless it was a movie!! Monday, I had a Dr. appt which went well, her heartrate was in the 140's which seems to be the norm lately and Im measuring just a tad smaller than my due date which makes me wonder if she's going to be large like Jacob or on the smaller side (I've only gained 9lbs so far) Im hoping for the latter :) After my appt, my mom stuck around and went to Wal-Mart with us! It helped so much because she was able to entertain Jacob while I grabbed what we needed. I try to distract Jacob with a Happy Meal before we start shopping so he's got something to distract him while I quickly make my way around the store!! While I was shopping, Lynda from 'Philips' called and asked if I wanted to do a 3D ultrasounds on Wednesday, I jumped on it and to say that I was esctatic is an understatement!! That night we went to our friends Suzie and Andy's house for a great dinner, guitar hero and cards!! I also got some wonderful cookie dough and I cant wait to cook it up...if Im able to keep myself away from the dough! Tuesday my friend Danielle came over to cut mine and my friend Michelles hair and our other friends Renee, Christy and Stepheni came over as well to entertain us! It was a lot of fun and we are both SO in love with our new do's!! Wednesday I dropped Jacob off at my parents and headed up north to Bothell for the ultrasound. I was so excited that morning that you'd of thought it was Christmas at our house. I woke up early and couldnt go back to sleep!! (Im cheesy, I know) So when I got there it was ultra high tech! There were flatscreens everywhere and I even had to check in using a computer! I had to have a "visitors badge" on me the whole time too! I saw a gym for the employees as well as a beautiful cafeteria!! I met my u/s tech who was great and very friendly. She informed me that she'd been a tech for a long time and now worked for Philips. She was asked to try out a new u/s machine on me and give her opinion on what she liked and didnt like about it. That machine was just your basic 2D (but gave great pictures none the less) and she knew I wanted to see Ava in 3D so she had that machine in the room as well!! She spent over an hour showing me all the parts on Ava and taking some measurements just for fun!! (This was by no means a 'diagnostic' u/s) all for fun! We were 100% able to confirm Ava was a girl which completely put my mind at ease!! It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it if you are willing to drive up north and have the time available!! Thursday we went to our friends Chris and Angelas house for a BBQ dinner and hot tubbin!! (Dont flame me, it wasnt too hot and I kept most of my upper body out of the water anyways!!) It was a lot of fun and we're already starting to plan our Hawaii trip with them next spring!! That morning, Angela and I took the kids to Babies R Us...we always love just looking around and I was "advised" to register, even though Im not having a shower. I guess it just helps those who wanted to buy a gift get an idea of what we need. Plus, you get a few free gifts as well as a completion coupon around the time you are due!! So while we were wandering the store anyways, I scanned a few things I thought would be nice to have!! Check it out and let me know if Im forgetting anything!! Hehe We hit up lunch at Red Robin and I had a burger there for the first time..it was wonderful!! Yesterday it was my friends Danielle and Michelles birthday so to celebrate we went to "The Diamond Lounge" in Bonney Lake and then some ventured off to the "Yella Beak" in Enumclaw. We had a great time and got some great pictures!! (I'll post some of my favorites!) Today we had our 2nd to last MOPS meeting which was a lot of fun but I am sad that we'll be all done with for the year, thankfully they've got some great activities lined up for the summer so I really hope I can do them, even with little Ava!!
Well that about sums up my week...in a nutshell (haha)
Toodles!
